Google reportedly working on Android Gear compatibility with iPhones

After the record pre-booking of Apple Watch on last Friday, Google is reportedly working on compatibility of Android Wear with the Apple iPhone. The news comes at a time when Apple Watch is gaining popularity and this move by Google can be seen as a competition at a higher level with Apple in the wearable market.

Apple is known for its tight integration between its products. And this is no different with the new Apple Watch because of the fact that the Apple Watch retrieve its information mostly from the iPhone connected. While it is certain that the Apple Watch will be more integrated than any Android Wear device, it is likely that many users won't need this much level of integration.

Many third-party developers already managed to make Android Wear work with iPhone. So, the move is certainly promising especially when the smartwatch market is still in their infancy and rising popularity of Apple Watch could be a threat for the future of Android Gear.

According to Apple's terms of service, no apps or metadata can contain the name of any other mobile platform, Android included, so if Google succeeds in developing an app for its iPhone users, there is still a long way ahead for Google to avoid issues getting into the App Store.
