According to Billboard,
Furious 7 is the fourth
chart-topping soundtrack compilation in the past 12 months, following the TV
soundtrack to Empire, Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and Frozen.
The track ‘See You
Again’ by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, escalates 10-1, dethroning
the 14-week rule of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk'. ‘See You Again’ is especially emotional
for Furious 7 fans, as it helps commemorate Paul Walker, who died before the film was finished. ‘See You Again’ plays during the final
scene in the movie (which hit
in theaters on April 3) and sold over 464,000 downloads for the week.
The official music video of ‘See you Again’ premiered on April 6, and also encouraging the sales
Wiz Khalifa performed the song two
days later on NBC’s The Voice, and hence crowning the song as No.1 on Billboard Hot 100. Moreover on April 13
‘See You Again’ broke the record on Spotify for most streams in a single
day, garnering 4.2 million listens. It also set the record for most streams in
a single week in 26 countries during April 6 to April 12.
