Whatsapp, a very popular messenger app now owned by Facebook has just got a very rare design overhaul. It has now been upgraded to match with the Android 5.0 Material Design and it looks a whole lot better than the last version. This is a second big update in past three weeks following the general rollout of the Voice Calling feature introduced only on Android. The update is not yet available on Google Play Store, but users can download and install the latest version from Whatsapp's website.
The updated app now features a dark green title bar which is clearly visible to be inspired by the Material Design palette and the typography now adheres to the Google's guidelines. You'll notice new buttons on opening a chat, a new round green-colored voice recording icon places besides the text bar. The attachment icons are also larger and more colorful. There are many new animations added in this update to enhance the overall user experience.
Last week, Whatsapp also promised a new update for Windows Phone devices which will include Voice Calling feature. While this feature is already available to all Android users and will soon be available to Windows Phone users, there is still time for the feature to come on iOS platform which was recently confirmed by the Co-Founder of company at a recent event.
