With football's most busy month, to make it more exciting we have the Madrid derby and that too in UCL. Real Madrid being the defending champions have reached the quarter finals this year as well but to add to its misery it has to play against the rivals Atletico Madrid. Both the teams have played extremely well in the previous as well as this season. Atletico Madrid is the defending champion of the league where as Real Madrid of UCL.
Some statistics and previous encounters :
- Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid faced each other in the finals of the last year UCL and Real Madrid emerged as the winner after the match went to the extra 30 minutes.
- In the recent past encounters Real Madrid has either lost or drawn the game against the Atletico Madrid.
- Though Real Madrid has lost both matches in the league from Atletico Madrid, it still leads by 7 points.
Though both teams look extremely good on paper but the actual result can still not be predicted. Both the managers are keen on winning the UCL quarter finals and gaining a place in the semis. Real Madrid's full back Alvaro Arbeloa is though confident that they can win and said "There's a lot of hope and motivation among the squad" after the win over Eibar. Whereas the other side is confident of continuing their streak.
Lets see what happens in the much awaited derby match in UCL on 15th April at 0015 hours IST.
